Children must have books, living books; the best are not too good for them; anything less than the best is not good enough.”

~Charlotte Mason, Parents and Children, p.279

Words for the World

Living books, literature, words and language–these form a child and shape an education. Stories and literary language — especially when shared with particular postures and habits of engaging–become a foundation for the way we interact with ourselves, others, and the world. Join us for this conference on books (and things).

Whether you are captivated with Charlotte Mason’s philosophy or just love books, this conference is for you. You’ll find kindred spirits here as a parent, a classroom teacher, a researcher, or a teenager. And our wide variety of breakout sessions on everything from handicrafts to high school scheduling to how to create a multicultural curriculum will allow you to create a conference experience which will fit you.

You’re invited to Kentucky from June 16-18th, 2022 at Asbury Seminary or, for the first two days of the conference, to our online conference broadcast! Join us?

Asbury Seminary is a day’s drive from much of the contiguous US and is only 15 miles from the Blue Grass Airport in Lexington. The airport’s transportation page also includes information on ground transportation options, including Uber, Lyft, etc. Asbury Inn also provides a convenient shuttle service to the Lexington and Cincinnati airports.

Lodging

Special discounted lodging is available through Asbury University and the Asbury Inn.

To obtain the discount at the Asbury Inn, simply call to reserve a room and mention that you are coming for the Charlotte Mason Conference.

You can also book special conference lodging in single or shared dorm rooms on Asbury’s campus. See the lodging “Add-ons” in the ticketing form below. Dorm rooms have two twin beds and a communal kitchen on each floor. We aim to place families or groups together; please submit your roommate request(s) when you purchase lodging.

Meals

For meals, conference attendees may choose to bring their own food and use dorm fridges, eat at local restaurants, or select individual or daily meal options at Asbury Seminary’s cafeteria (the most popular option, as meal times are great places to connect with fellow attendees). Yes! Those wishing to receive a certificate of attendance to this conference for continuing education purposes will receive a form to keep a record of the sessions and events attended. At the end of the conference, you will turn in your log of contact hours. CMI will be happy to provide you a certificate, which will be mailed to you within two weeks of the last day of the conference or earlier if needed.

Each State Board is different in its requirements, each State has various State Boards, and many State Boards are going to an audit system that requires you to provide proof of CEU credits only if you are asked for them. Therefore, CMI has found it more helpful to provide attendees with the materials they need to apply on their own for CEU credits (or have proof in an audit situation).

A.) If you need CEUs for your professional license, you should first contact your Board of Licensure and get answers to 3 questions:

  1. What is the deadline to submit an application for CEUs with my State Board? Some State Boards require applications to be submitted before the Conference begins.
  2. What material does my Board need to process my application? Some boards may ask for a description of the conference and/or the conference schedule.
  3. Will my Board recognize CMI as a CEU provider? You must determine if it will approve CMI as a provider of that content. Many states have accepted our CEUs over the years.

B.) Now that you know what your Board allows and what they need, please make sure you are registered for the Conference. Then either obtain a 2022 Certificate of Attendance from the check-in table at the Conference or the info desk online and use it to document your participation in each session. You will write in the number of minutes of each session that you watched. If you had to leave early, halfway through for example, you will only mark half of the allowed minutes.

C.) Once you have completed your 2022 Certificate of Attendance please have a CMI Administrator sign it in person at the Conference or via e-mail at info[at]charlottemasoninstitute.org. If you chose to e-mail, we will review the Certificates, print, sign and scan them back to you.  If you have any special deadline, please make sure to let us know. Otherwise, you can expect to receive back your Certificate of Attendance within 2 weeks of us receiving it.

Not too hard, right?!  We will be on site at the Conference and available online for the broadcast to help you with any questions you may have!

Contact us with your full name and the email address associated with your order. Requests received by April 1, 2022 will receive a refund minus a $30 cancellation fee. After April 1, no refunds will be provided.

No. Conference registrations are not transferable.

We will follow health protocols as specified by the state, by the local health authorities, and by Asbury University and Seminary at the time of the conference.
