Chapter 5 Eros
As Mason’s students progressed into forms 3-6, they continued building on their affections and friendships with the Things of the world around them. As a student of this age becomes more focused and independent, it can be tempting to over-formalize their learning, but playfulness and curiosity always have a role in learning. As you read chapter 5, Eros, from C.S. Lewis’ Four Loves this week, consider how the relationship with knowledge is able to change the student from within when playfulness and curiosity are protected. How is the relationship impacted when it becomes overly serious or becomes a possession rather than a friend?
